Does it Hurt?

We find that when managers who have never done appraisals are told that they will be doing them they are terrified. This is perfectly natural because they immediately imagine massive confrontations with valuable team members walking out and morale collapsing. Resultantly they go into the process making sure that will not happen by avoiding the issues and making the whole procedure a form filling exercise. At least they do if they don't receive top quality appraisal training.

Course overview

1. What is an Appraisal
   What is it all about? What do we stand to gain and how does it fit in with the general management of the organisation? Integrating the Appraisal with the with the day to day running of the business is a key element of the PHCT approach. When managers realise how the PHCT approach is actually able to make their day to day job easier they start to get excited about the possibilities.
   
   
2. The empowering appraisal
   Have you ever wished your people would show a little more initiative so that you have to spend less time bogged down with little things. If this is so prepare yourself for a little bit of magic.
   
   
3. The system
   The system itself is not that important. A good system obviously makes life easier, but It is the execution that really matters. We will show you how the system we generally use works, explain the rationale behind its design, and of course how to use it. We have found that in many cases our clients already have a system which for one reason or another they are unable to change. That doesn't matter because the PHCT Approach can be applied to any system. 5. The discussion
   It needs to take place in the right environment and needs to be a genuine two way constructive conversation in which praise is given where appropriate and issues are dealt with that would otherwise impede performance. We take you step by step through the process and make it easy. Done properly there's no confrontation, there's no bad feeling and both parties leave the meeting feeling enthused.
   
   
6. After the meeting
   Brilliant preparation and a superb discussion are rendered completely pointless if the nescessary post meeting action is not implemented. We show you what you need to do, how you do it, when you do it, and most importantly: how you remember to do it.
